Why You’ll Want to Be in Manitoba on April 10

WINNIPEG, MB – On April 10, the Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) is hosting its annual convention, featuring MTA’s annual general meeting, for members only, in the morning, followed by Driving the Future Technology Symposium and MTA’s annual Spring Fling Gala Dinner.

The event will take place at Hotel Fort Garry in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

MTA’s board members are invited to attend the annual general meeting and breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and can register here.

Non-board members are invited to participate in Transportation 2020: Essential Skills and Safety in the Trucking Industry seminar from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

“Trucking HR Atlantic did a nationwide study of drivers to see if there is a link between a driver’s essential skills competency levels such as reading, writing, numeracy, document use and productivity,” MTA’s Executive Director Terry Shaw wrote in a release. “The information compiled in this study will be helpfu for us as we move toward mandatory entry-level driver trainiong standards as well as providing support to our existing workforce. The seminar’s attendees will learn more about Trucking HR Atlantic’s study and will also discuss tools and methods to manage this concern through the Manitoba Trucking Association.”

The Transportation 2020 Driving the Future Technology Symposium will run from 11:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Here’s what attendees can expect:

· Lunch and a keynote on implementing innovative technologies to improve trucking operations delivered by Yves Provencher who most recently facilitated the Canadian Trucking Alliance discussion on upcoming 2018 GHG regulations;

· Opportunities to participate in two different breakout sessions on the subject of how to use technology to improve your business based on four sessions;

· Presentations on : upcoming technologies and tools available to companies when it comes to driver and equipment performance management and communications, by Shaw Tracking; how to strengthen your brand on social media; how to improve or optimize office technologies for improved service and internal efficiencies; how to optimize their fleet and critical data communications with Telogis.
