Work Truck Show beefs up educational program

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – A new full-day seminar on work truck fleet management will kick off the educational component of the annual Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Ind. this march.

According to show organizers, the new “Fleet Management 101: Fundamentals of Truck Fleet Management” workshop will provide a detailed introduction to the most important elements of an effective fleet management program.

The seminar, led by senior representatives from Mercury Associates, Inc. of Gaithersburg, Md., will highlight outsourcing and supplier management, analytics, benchmarking, vehicle cost and replacement, and safety.

It will be held on March 3, the day before the trade show opens at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Work Truck Show is described as North America’s largest work truck event.

Individual education sessions on March 4 and 5 will cover topics such as leasing versus purchasing capital equipment, strategies for “rightsizing” fleets, life-cycle cost analysis, and fleet performance benchmarking.

Extensive education on clean vehicle topics will be offered at the Green Truck Summit, the only alternative fuel and technology conference held in conjunction with a dedicated vocational truck event in North America. The two-day Green Truck Summit features general and breakout sessions that cover alternative fuel and advanced technology trends and implementation success stories.

Work Truck Show learning opportunities also include chassis update sessions with all the major manufacturers.

Conference registration is required to attend concurrent educational sessions. Separate tickets must be purchased for the Green Truck Summit and Special Sessions.

The full list of educational sessions is available online.

“The Work Truck Show’s educational sessions provide opportunities for attendees to learn how to improve their operations using input from work truck industry leaders and experts,” says Steve Carey, executive director of NTEA, the association for the work truck industry. “We’ve sharpened the focus of many of these sessions to give specific answers to the most pressing challenges faced by fleet managers. By participating in the educational sessions, attendees can learn about the newest strategies fleets are using to improve performance and reduce costs.”

The Work Truck Show brings together more than 10,000 truck fleet managers, manufacturers, distributors, dealers, equipment buyers and maintenance personnel. It features the newest vocational trucks, vans and equipment, ride-and-drives, and opportunities to network with other work truck industry professionals.
