InPower has introduced the new InSur Auxiliary Battery Optimizer (ABO) that improves battery performance and extends battery life by eliminating excessive battery discharge. Called the industry’s ‘first three-post battery controller’, it charges the auxiliary battery from the chassis battery, while preventing both batteries from being drained by auxiliary loads.
The ABO maximizes performance and power in a wide range of work truck applications. It’s said to be compact, affordable and easy to use.
The ABO’s patent-pending design has a third terminal for low-voltage disconnect, so loads are automatically disconnected at a pre-determined low-voltage setting.
Unlike with diode isolators, the ABO does not experience high voltage drops across its main contacts, resulting in improved charging to the auxiliary battery, the company says. Being very efficient, it doesn’t need massive heat sinks, like those found on conventional diode-style isolators that generate a lot of heat.
Once installed, the ABO is fully automatic with built-in short-circuit protection.
The ABO also has a boost feature that allows manual control of the battery switch, so the chassis and auxiliary batteries can be used to maximize starting power. Its sealed construction provides excellent protection against moisture and dust.
