Fontaine acquires Ravens

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Nov. 28, 2001) — Fontaine Industries, maker of Fontaine trailers and fifth wheels, has purchased the assets of Ravens Inc. from RVM Industries.

The sale, for which terms were not disclosed, includes all Ravens assets and manufacturing facilities. Ravens, based in Akron, Ohio, will operate as a division of Fontaine Trailer Co. Founded in 1956, Ravens builds aluminum flatbed and dump trailers at plants in Kent, Ohio, Jacksonville, N.C., and Knox, Ind., and sells its equipment through a network of approximately 60 dealer locations in the United States, Ontario, and Quebec.

Fontaine produces aluminum platforms, aluminum dump trailers, and steel dump trailers.

Fontaine Industries is one of the Marmon Group of Cos., a privately held conglomerate with collective sales of $6.8 billion US.
