TORONTO, Ont. — Freightliner was the clear truck sales leader this January, moving 676 Class 8 trucks in Canada, figures supplied by WardsAuto show. The brand also held the top market share in Class 7, selling 212 units. Even in Class 6, it led the way with 80 Canadian sales. Dip down to Class 5, though, and Ford held the top spot with 156 trucks.
South of the border, Freigthtliner held the top position in Class 8 sales, with 5,228 units. The brand also accounted for just over half of the market for new Class 7 trucks, with 2,333 units. In Class 6 it accounted for just over 41% of the business, at 2,279 trucks. Ford accounted for a whopping 71.6% of the U.S. Class 5 market at 3,556 sales.
