Kenworth T680 Advantage gets 52″ sleeper

Posted: October 5, 2016

Kenworth is expanding its Kenworth T680 Advantage lineup to include a 52-inch sleeper designed for regional haulers such as tank, bulk, flatbed, heavy haul and lowboy operations where drivers may only spend a couple of nights on the road.

Aerodynamic improvements such as a front air dam, mini-kickout fairings, and lower fairing extenders redirect air around the chassis and sleeper in the name of fuel economy. Other fuel-saving features include Kenworth’s predictive cruise control, neutral coast, driver performance assistant, and FlowBelow wheel covers.

The powertrain includes a Paccar MX-13 or MX-11 engine with an Eaton Fuller Advantage 10-speed automated transmission, combined with Meritor MT40-14X drive axles rated at 40,000 pounds.

The end result is a 6% boost in fuel economy compared to a non-optimized T680 with the previous generation of MX-13 engine, Eaton Fuller automated transmission, and standard drive axles.

Features in the sleeper include a liftable lower bunk and upper storage on the back wall, while an optional upper bunk is available for driver teams.  An optional passenger swivel seat adds to the living space when the truck is parked.
