REGINA — The Saskatchewan Trucking Association has followed the lead of some of its members and enrolled in the SmartWay Transport Partnership.
The SmartWay program is a collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the transportation industry aimed at increasing energy efficiency, while decreasing greenhouse gases and air pollution.
Through the voluntary program, partners commit to measure and improve the efficiency of their freight operations, using EPA-developed tools that quantify the benefits of a number of fuel-saving strategies.
STA members Penner International, Siemens Transportation Group, SLH Transport, and Yanke Group of Companies, are already enlisted on the carrier side, and the STA will join the B.C. Trucking Association and the Ontario Trucking Association as affiliate members of the partnership.
