Stemco purchases air disc pad maker

Posted: October 31, 2017

LONGVIEW, TX – Stemco has purchased Commercial Vehicle Components, a manufacturer of air disc brake and medium-duty hydraulic disc brake pads.

The business will become part of Stemco’s brake product group, while CVC products will be marketed with the Lunar brand name.

“This purchase presents the perfect opportunity for us to expand into the medium-duty marketplace, which will be a new venture for us,” said Stemco president Todd Anderson.

The acquisition builds on the recent opening of Stemco’s friction factory in Rome, Georgia, added Doug Hix, vice president and general manager of Stemco’s brake products group.

Lunar air disc brake pads feature a mechanical retention system that delivers shear strength and efficiently dissipates heat, the company says. A molded V-groove further dissipates heat, helps evacuate gas, and reduces surface tension, fade, and premature wear, the company says.

Stemco has offices and manufacturing facilities in Texas, Georgia, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Canada, Australia, China and Mexico.
