Kenworth will now be equipping T680 linehaul and regional-haul tractors with 12-speed Paccar automated transmissions and right-hand column-mounted shifters.
ATLANTA, GA – The first product unveiled through a joint venture between Eaton and Cummins has officialy emerged in the form of a 12-speed automated transmission.
Paccar is the latest OEM to claim its own proprietary integrated powertrain. For Paccar, it began with the MX-11 and MX-13 engines in 2010. Last October, the company announced a proprietary drive axle, the 40,000-lb Paccar Tandem Drive Axle.

COLUMBUS, IN – Eaton and Cummins are launching a joint venture to develop heavy-duty and medium-duty automated transmissions, the companies have announced. It will be known as Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies.
Each company will own 50% of the joint venture that will design, assemble, sell and support future automated transmissions. Eaton receives US $600 million from Cummins in the deal.
It is still subject to regulatory approvals.
