Ontario announces $20M for bridge and road work

BARRIE, ON – Ontario has announced $20 million in funding for repairs to roads and bridges in 23 municipalities.

Six of those municipalities will receive major funding in the neighborhood of $3 million for identified projects, including Aylmer, Cornwall, Chatham-Kent, Timmins, North Bay and Guelph.

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca made the funding announcement April 8 in Barrie, ON, as part of the province’s Connecting Links program.

“Our investment through Connecting Links in Highway 26 in Barrie – and in 22 other communities across Ontario – will help improve productivity, create or sustain jobs, and make our roads and bridges safer,” Wynne announced in Barrie.

There are approximately 350 kilometres of roads and 70 bridges along connecting links in 77 Ontario municipalities.
