Thunder Bay to divert trucks under new weight bylaw

March 16, 2016 by Dave Nesseth

THUNDER BAY, ON – City officials in Thunder Bay are shaping an anti-congestion plan by updating a 1972 weight bylaw that would divert commercial truck traffic away from the city centre.

Councillors voted March 7 to have city staff adjust the bylaw establishing truck routes within the next three months, ready to have the new traffic congestion plan in place by September.

Currently, the proposal would keep trucks over 5,000 kg off Oliver Road, Dawson Road and Arthur Street west of Highway 11/17. Drivers would instead be steered toward Hodder Avenue, Highway 11/17 and Highway 61.

Want A Friend For Life? Nominate a Highway Star!

December 3, 2015 by Peter Carter

TORONTO, ON – Human Resource experts are fond of saying that people frequently forget what you say to them, but they never forget how you make them feel.
So if you’d like to share an unforgettable feeling with an admirable driver, why not nominate him (or her) as the next Highway Star of the Year?
Nominating the candidates is easy and free. Deadline is February 15, 2016.
The winner gets a free trip to the Truck World Show in Toronto in April, a whole bunch of great prizes and then goes home with $10,000 in his jeans. Oh, he (or she) will also be profiled in Today’s Trucking magazine.
But even if your candidate doesn’t win, imagine the compliment you’ll be handing out by nominating the person. That alone gives them bragging rights.
