VERSATILE TRACKING DEVICE

Posted: August 1, 2014

The MiniBoss, from Bulldog Technologies in Richmond, B.C., is a cellular-based tracking and recovery device that allows users to track their shipments through a standard PC. It’s designed to work in conjunction with the Bulldog Security Gateway, a proprietary automatic vehicle location (AVL) software program. The tiny MiniBoss is hidden in valuable or sensitive shipments and remains dormant until activated by the user through
the AVL software. That activation updates the mapping engine and provides a real-time, true position of the asset. The device reports positions through the AVL software depending on user selection or it can be set to an automatic update mode, as it monitors the movement of goods. The system uses ‘gpsOne’ technology and supports multiple modes of position determination including a combination of AGPS and cell tower
triangulation. This allows the MiniBoss to work in environments that traditional GPS cannot. The device doesn’t need to “see the sky” to determine location like traditional GPS systems. The device requires no external antennae and so it can transmit and determine accurate positions from
inside steel containers, trailers, warehouses, parking garages and buildings. The transceiver operates at a low-power level resulting in extended battery life and low maintenance. The system automatically notifies the user when battery-power levels are low to ensure continued service. It
comes with a 21-day rechargeable battery pack. Each unit is compact, portable and manufactured with a rugged, all-weather housing.
