VICTORIA — A campaign is underway on Canada’s west coast to increase awareness among highway drivers on the importance of being prepared for winter driving before heading out on the road.
The B.C. Ministry of Transportation, the B.C. Trucking Association, the B.C. Automobile Association, WorkSafeBC, the RCMP, the Insurance Corporation of B.C. and B.C. highway maintenance contractors are collaborating in an effort to increase Seasonal Driving Preparedness awareness among passenger and professional vehicle operators.
Traveler safety is a priority along highway corridors; and it is important for drivers to be prepared for winter driving and the varied weather conditions that may be experienced in B.C.
The group’s aim is to offer seasonal preparedness information to drivers, information that may be accessed through the Ministry of Transportation DriveBC – www.drivebc.ca – website, in an effort to improve traveler safety through education and awareness.
Awareness information has been made available; including DriveBC rack cards, posters and adhesive decals.
