When trucking’s a family tradition

Posted: August 1, 2014

STEINBACH, Man. — It’s been a long time since Seaton “Red” Coleman and his father George put their personal stamp on South East Transfer, and the family is still trucking along.

Today, brothers Gary and Earl Coleman are guiding Big Freight Systems as CEO and president, respectively. The economic tides over the past 60 years have had a fair share of ups and downs, and the Coleman’s continue to ride these waves with an eye to the future.

Since 1948, Red built the foundation of the company based on his belief that sticking to the basics of on-time pick-up and deliveries for a fair price is a critical factor to success.

Through the leadership of Earl and Gary, the company evolved, while responding to increasing demands in the marketplace of open deck and long haul transportation.

This year Earl was also elected president of the Manitoba Trucking Association and he wears both hats with confidence.
